Figured I would start a thread to chronicle my journey. I'll probably get bored updating it and forget about it completely in the next couple months, but it gives me something to do when I am bored at work.

Tank filled on 3/28
Started with marco dry rock and 100lb of carib sea
RedSea blue bucket for salt
Dr. Tim ammonia and Fritz Turbo start

Deep Blue 80 gallon rimless (48*24*18)
Apex 3 controller
carbon and gfo reactor run by AI Axis pump
CO2 scrubber
Bubble Mag Curve 7 elite
(2) AI Prime
(1) AI Hydra 64
Sicce SDC7 return pump
(2) AI Nero 3... for now
(2) Sicce Scuba

5/02 - Added a yellow watchman. Got talked into getting his pistol shrimp buddy too
5/03 - Put in some zoas, acans, and hammer I had my buddy hold onto since aquashella in November

Most recently got sucked into the abyss that was the WWC live sale. Picked up 50 frags. They were all added on 5/09

5/09 - Added two clownfish and a 6 line wrasse
5/10 - Re-plumbed the return externally and converted overflow to Herbie for peace of mind
5/11 - Changed out the Sicce SDC7 for a Neptune COR 1500 and added a Trident
First reading ALK: 7.19, Ca:329, MG: 1280, Salinity @ 1.025, PH @ 8.18

Having some issues with keeping calcium up even with regular water changes
Calcium sitting at a 318, alk 7.5, mg 1273

Added some new friends this week.

Little update.
Added an AI Orbit 4 to supplement the 2 Neros already in the tank
Lost my fairy wrasse and yellow coris. Down to 1 peppermint shrimp.

Picked up another coris and it is thriving.
Coral growth is starting to pick up. Suprisingly all 4 goni are happy and flowy.
Have not been successful in keeping birdsnest. Have had a couple zoas just close up and shrink to nothing.

Currently parameters:
PH: 8.31
Temp: 78-79
ALK: 6.55
CA: 400
MG: 1359

Any suggestions or comments for changes gladly taken.

Very nice,

What levels do N and P run at?

Why 7dkh versus 8 or 9dkh.

Nothing wrong with 7, just no room for any less.

I honestly have not check either P or N in the last 3 months.....
I cannot keep the tank about 7-7.5 for whatever reason

If either of those is very low (or very high) corals will starve. Some believe zero may trigger pest type stuff like the Dino’s and Cyanos.

Also, low low MG sometimes make Alk results vary widely, make sure it’s 1350ish ppm, then test Alk.

Carbon dosing can lower Alk results as well.

Shouldnt be difficult to get Alk to run 8-10dkh.

So I switched from Red Sea blue bucket to Fritz. Have seen better numbers since the switch. Have done 2 40-50% water changes so far.
Alk: 7.8, CA:430, MG:1479 PH is stable @ 8.2-8.3

Overall growth is starting to pick up. Did add an anemone this week. Settled in nicely and hasn't moved from original location.... yet

Well I burned this guy out of a piece of rock after seeing him last night.

What’s the guess on what kind of worm? It’s extra creepy to me that he has a parasite growing on him.
