LPS growth

I have a small blasto frag and I am also planning on getting more LPS soon and my question is will lps like blasto acans grow right on the sand bed or do they need a rock under them? Thanks for the help.

You can place them on sandbed, but they take forever to build their hard skeleton. If you have a rock or solid surface they encrust faster.
