All the red I have is macro algae, Atomic Brocolli. Then I have some rock flower anemones scattered about and rainbow bubble tips as well

Since I haven’t shared in forever, here’s the progress on the black orchid painting. The black mark is an edit, to make his dorsal a bit wider than I drew. I think it’s coming along nice enough.

He needs a lot of work on those fins and his body. His eye is also too small.

My future son-in-law is going to think of me too! It'll probably be something like "Man, I hope he's not home when I get there..."
I know that feeling. The kind of a guy that would say “ I got a new car” Oh, what kind? “I don’t know, a red one “

I was naughty this weekend. Spent five bucks on a little betta, who may be an alien, but I can’t really tell. He’s smol, he’s stressed and he’s pretty frightened. When I grabbed the cup at the shop, it was almost like fridge water with the temperature. I of course didn’t have a spare tank, or so I thought. I do have a 3 gallon but it’s of questionable quality. I’m not sure if it leaks or not.

So mom and I went to another store, carrying him around. She held him in her hands under her flannel. He started to unclamp pretty swiftly. Found a tote for temporary housing, and while setting it up with just a few plants and a hide and heater, I stuck the bag In the pallifina tank just to help warm him up. He of course wanted to show he is a big boy and he will eat a fish three times his size.

I’m not comfortable with the tank I had so I reached out to a friend (who I’ve traded with before on several occasions) and asked if he had any small tanks. He did, and so I traded (at a loss) a rock flower and a bubble tip, as well as some chaeto, dead man’s fingers and two other macros I have yet to get an ID on.

The main thing I wanted was good lids on these tanks and he assured me they had them. One has two, but one has a giant hole in it :(

I have no money to buy a better tank so I’ll just work on cleaning up one of these and hope that it’ll work. I may move Karl from his Fluval betta to one of these, since he’s very fluffy and needs more space. My hopes of getting the larger five gallon went out the door when I stopped babysitting since I now have no income, and I don’t have much in the trade department other than when I can snatch a nem or trim some algae.

Maybe I can get that bow front setup. It does have a filter with, but no lid. Maybe I can use a pane of glass.

This week son in law is working late so I didn’t get a chance to clean much of the tanks up.

The bowfront is acrylic. It has a spot in the bottom that is questionable, as I’m not sure if it’s from manufacturer or if it was slammed down on something.

The other is glass and still sitting dirty. The bowfront hood led works, the other one does not. The spare lid didn’t have a light. I’m kinda irritated because I needed a tank and lid but was hoping for a functional tank with lid. Instead I may not be able to use any of these lids since my lights won’t fit in there. And I’m not even sure the glass one has good seals and doesn’t leak.

The acrylic is also scratched up a whole lot. I’m not even sure if either would be worth my time. Kinda bummed. Hopefully it’s just cause I’m tired.

Quick snap out the door. This is the bowfront. It’s scratched up pretty bad :( I’ll hang onto it for a temp tank in case I need it but as for display, it’s not something I want to house anyone in to be able to actually see. A bit too small for a hospital tank too. This was a saltwater tank which may be why the hole was cut in the lid and why it’s so scratched up

I know I’m probably nitpicking but was hoping they’d be in a little better shape.

This is also a quick snap of the glass one. From the image front seals seem fine. I still will leak test it when it dries, and after I clean it. I may be able to use the included sand, I’ll just wash it well.
