I just started using the Lunar Effect on my coral QT tank using an AI Prime HD. According to all the videos I watched, setting it to 3% max looks like the normal setting. Here is a pic with Lunar on at 3% max.

Is this too bright for all night or is it OK? I know that my planted tanks seem to prefer total darkness all night, (at least they grow better like that) and didn't know if corals are similar since they are photosynthetic as well.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I ran mine at 3% for a few months and I honestly didn’t se a difference in my corals but my fish seemed to not like it.

My DT with all my fish is in the family room and I have 4 Hydra 24 HD's that I do not use Lunar with. The coral QT is in my bedroom and I really like the lunar just for my own satisfaction, but the health of the coral is the ultimate goal so I would turn it down or even completely off if that was what the majority of reefers here recommended.

I run 4 AI HD Primes on my 75 Gallon Tank. I use the lunar mode at 4%. It took some getting used to with the lights going from completely black to th he full light as it followed the lunar cycle. After two years, all corals and fish doing fine.

Been running AI Prime HD for over a year with Lunar from the start of coral introduction at 5%, no issues. Enjoy seeing the cycle progress via waking up for a midnight kitchen run and seeing the brightness adjust per current phase.

As for the lighting itself being present, I can see corals showing discomfort in an adjustment period. Lunar mode (obviously) only attempts to emulate what naturally occurs. The Lunar cycles goes off and all the corals visibly go into a nighttime feeding mode, regardless of full or new moon.

Hope it helps.
