I have a mixed reef tank lots of lps 2 small sps and a lot of soft coral( 3 toad stools and a bunch of zoas) my tank is fairly new 3months, and everything looks great blooming really wide but my magnesium was at 1170 as of last week, I started dosing Brightwell aquatics magnesium every other day as instructed. I'm on my 3rd day day of dosing(3 doses-6days)
and my mag tested at 1170-1200 a couple of days ago and after a water change(15-20% weekly) today it was still around 1200-1230, this test was done today right after a water change with Fritz Reef Pro salt mix and magnesium doing of around 10-15mg. should I do the advanced instruction and just do a couple of big doses to raise it to where I want or?
Ps I do weekly water changes, corals look healthy.
can post a pic if requested.

Magnesium is a challenge to measure with our hobby test kits. Not sure what kits you are using, but I have tried to use liquid Mg in the past and I was getting the same results you are.

I switched to using granular Mg supplement from BRS.

FYIW, RHF suggests that if you are doing regular water changes with a salt mix that has adequate Mg the need to measure or supplement is close to zero. I hope I didn't misrepresent what he has said.

First, check that your salinity is correct with a calibrated instrument as it is likely your salinity is low

Apart from that, the Mg you are measuring is fine and does not need adjustment. Anything above 1200 is fine for anything in the tank.

my salinity is never low generally it gets a little high I try to keep it at 35 ppt but it tends to get around 36 ppt-37 ppt before I add some fresh water.
