Im in the planning/building stage for my 330g mixed reef. I would love to create a corner for 4-6 garden eels but info on them is rather hard to find. My question now is, assuming I can get healthy, eating specimens how would I create a perfect spot for them?
I know they prefer lower current areas, but still need enough to get food to blow by them. I know they can deal with shallow sand beds but would prefer 8-12" of depth.
The idea is to use some rock work to create a hole roughly 8"x8"x 10" deep and fill it with sand. I plan to locate this deep sand bed in the front corner of the tank where it will not get direct flow. Also being in the corner should help reduce the activity around the eels since they are shy.
What do you think?
