I really like the sealed water bottle ato method especially since its pretty much fool proof. Been thinking about using it for my new system but Id need something larger than a gallon jug. Think I could get an airtight seal if I took a plastic rimmed 10 gal and cemented a piece of acrylic to the top with weld on 16?

You could but it would be a lot easier to buy a 10g airtight tote… or just use a float valve like a human.

I get salt creep in places around the trim on rimmed tanks telling me there must not be an air tight seal between the trim and glass.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
