Wow, I totally forgot about this thread! The tank is still up and running and I only made one major change after my last post! I modified the sump return pipe to a 45 degree angle instead of a sharp 90 degrees to reduce the amount of bubbles that came out. I can take some pictures later and get them up.

One major criticism of this system if you're planning on trying this yourself: No floods from pump failures, though when the pump fails, you won't necessarily notice it until you see massive evaporation in the sump and a corresponding rise in sump salinity (because no new water is going in).
