Malaysian Ban?

A friend of mine imports corals from Malaysia. He said he heard a rumor that Malaysia was going to put a ban, similar to the Indo ban, in place. His friend just got his export license revoked from Malaysia. Wondering if anyone else has heard anything. Perhaps this is a way for them to drive up the price.

I wouldn't be surprised of a ban with the way global reef decline is headed. I wonder if any importers like Liveaquaria have made statements - I just saw a malaysian urchin on their diver's den.

Is there a resource where we can find updated info on current bans? Would be good to know!

I agree. I was thinking it would cool if there was a section of the forum dedicated to curren bans and updated info on them.

I have friends that import corals. Most of the stuff in Asia comes from Australia or Malaysia. The Philippines and Indonesia are the only places in this area that I’m aware have bans in place. However, some stuff does come from the Philippines (illegally?). The indo ban is pretty tight.

LRS in Orange County Callyfornia, I visited 3 weeks ago, mention his shipments from Malaysia stopped. Very odd

Sri Lanka also have a ban on collecting Corals. Even locally not just imports as far as I know. However Anemone are not under the ban or fish.
