Hello all,

I noticed a mark above my Tangs eye yesterday. I don’t recall seeing it before and I care for the tank daily. To me it looks like his skin is peeling although that doesn’t make sense that’s the only way to describe it.

His tank makes are a mag foxface, 2 clowns, 1 sixline wrasse. No aggression is present in the tank besides the usual chase with the foxface. There are also a good amount of nems in the tank. Also a cleaner shrimp.

I have a strict QT process and all fish have been in there for 2 years with no additions.

Please Ignore the “dots” it is just algae on the glass.

This is tough to see due to the blue saturation. IF you could photograph with white light, diagnosis would be easier.

Have you ever had any problems with HLLE? Do you use activated carbon in your filtration?

I do use carbon, I can get a white light photo but it will have to be tomorrow night due to work.

I haven’t had a problem with HLLE in the past, they get a well rounded diet. I know there are theories about other causes. I could try removing the carbon

This is a good article about HLLE.

The better pictures will help, It could be an injury too.

Thank you for the good read! I’m hoping it is an injury maybe from the rock work or a nem/foxface.

I will update with white light photos when possible.

That's a good sign. Probably was just a minor injury that is healing naturally.
