Water day.
Finally a long awaited and as usual for me a very stressful day came last Monday. Luckily the tank builder offered to be here on filling day to check for things especially with me being worried about lack of bottom bracing and having requested a middle brace and him insisting on Eurobracing only which I must confess looks much neater and allows me way more access... So we agreed on me filling half the tank before he arrived and we filled the rest together.
Just before I started filling the tank my two little helpwers inspected all the glass, bracing, seems, metal stands and shimming for any deffects and gave me the green light to start the water, Then of course I was not allowed to start the water as they had to have that priviledge!!!

took around 3 hours to fill the tank with high pressure water

So can only imagine how painfull filling it with RO water will be.
Luckily there were no incidents although must admit that with each sound in the house or outside or especially when he hit on the stand without prior notifying me my heart rate was at peak.
There wer no leaks, and no bowing so guess the additional bracing will not be needed luckily.

And plumbing finsihed for the drains:
Returns will be over the top from the right side of the tank and will be made later on.
2 x 1.5" drains (one for backup)
1x 1 inch drain supplying fuge and water change tank.

Excuse me if I missed it but there is no bracing around the bottom of the tank? usually Euro braced tanks have a rim around the bottom as well to aid in support. I know my 180 has this...

other than that, this is a Wonderful build and I really like the cabinets.. Very unique and professional.

What I like best is how this system ties into your house. The cabinets are awesome and the tank is awesome. Once all is done, it is going to be a site to see. Well done.

We skipped the bottom bracing as the tank builder is quite at ease that we used thicker glass than needed and top bracing. Wanted to go with bottom braces as well but he insisted on not doing those. Personally I think this gives me the chance to switch to barebottom in case I struggle with nutrients issues down the line like with my old tank. Not a fan of BB tanks but this keeps the oportunities open... So far wile filling the tank we didn't see anybowing or stress points so looks like we might not add the bottom braces.

Having the tank as part of the room was one of the aims of this build. Once the new furniture goes in with the same wood used for the cabinets it should blend in even more. I can't wait will it's done.

Looking good, great to see your kids in on helping set it up. My daughters try to help me with every aspect of the tank including water changes. It may be a little bit more messy but its great to see them take an interest

Always glad to see them involved in the tank and can't wait till they grow and setup their own tanks.

I prefer a glass tank over acrylic simply because I'm sure I'll sctach an acrylic tank on the first cleaning.
Also even If I wasnted to go acrylic theres no acrylic tank builders in the country.

Waiting to finish the lightrack so I can start with Aquascaping the tank as they need to stand in the tank to fix it tot he ceiling...
Got a couple of weeks of traveling and then should have some time at home for some progress...
