Renovation started in the basement this week. The contractor put up this plastic zip up liner to protect any debris from getting into the tank. Anyone else ever have to live through demo/painting/building around their tank?

I tweaked my lighting schedule reducing the time frame spent in the highest intensity level. No change in overall max output, but my theory is this will give more comfort to my Euphyillia corals since they have been partially closing during peak hours. I also believe 3 hours at peak intensity is plenty for the stony's to thrive.

Hopefully I am not getting too aggressive with the changes. I just updated my lighting schedule to a slightly modified version of the WWC 900G Radion Schedule. I imagine there is some type of shock from the color change but the overall intensity is roughly the same as before.

I had to share this one too. I nearly lost my birdsnest completely about 6 months ago. It was about twice the size and had severe tissue loss forcing me to chop it down to almost the original frag.

IMO Birdsnest corals are easy to keep but are a Canaray when it comes to Alk swings. If I see an unhappy Birdsnest coral I know something is definitely off.

I've become a big fan of the wet skimming water change. I raise the sump level and and let the skimmer drain into a bucket while I siphon the bottom of the tank into a filter sock. That way I am able to save most of the pods that get sucked up.

Awaiting the basement remodel completion. The tank is covered in protective plastic to prevent debris and other contamination. I painted the entire ceiling with a spray gun without impacting the tank. The skimmer is on a closed loop system with a CO2 scrubber to ensure oxygen is available while the tank is completely sealed off.

Been seeing high silica in my water ever since the renovation started in the basement. Almost 100% is has to do with the slate tile I have been beating up and wasn't able to prevent all of the dust from getting into the air and then tank. Also, not sure how to target only silica for removal.
