I wouldn’t because you run the risk of injuring its byssal threads or if you have to relocate it in the future. What kind is it! Some Tridacna live in sandy areas whereas others are boring clams that actually bore into rocks or coral.
Best thing is to start off with the clam, depending on the species, on the bottom of your tank on top of a flat piece of rock. Eventually the clam will attach to your rock and then you can move it without it continuously falling down.
Squamosa and Derasa live in sandy bottoms whereas Maxima and Crocea’s live in rocky areas.
Do not glue the maxima. Use a cradle shaped rock to set him on and let him attach his byssal threads...if hes not setting threads something is wrong..postioning, flow,pests...etc
Never glue or epoxy a clam to any surface. Smaller clams are difficult to keep unfortunately. Try to find a small flat rock and place it on the sand bed then place the clam on the rock so it can attach its byssal threads. Do you have any pics of the clam?
