Maxspect RSX first impression

    Today I just got my new R5X! This is the R5-150 so it’s the same size as the R420R 15k/16k model and approximately the same weight.

    This model does not come with hanging wires like the older models did although they are available separately.

    ICV6, controller needed to adjust the light wirelessly, also sold separately. To use this you will also have to download the app on iOS App Store or the Google Play store for Android.

    3 pucks with 20 diodes each, total of 60 diodes verses the older R420Rs at 13 diodes per puck.

    So I only had enough time for these pics and then I had to eat and get back to work. I’ll post more pics and try to figure out the app later tonight when I get home.

    Thanks for taking the time to do this! I really liked my last razor. EASY! I am wondering if the recurve would be worth the extra money? Looking forward to hearing more.

    A little late for tank pics with different settings tonight. I just put it on an SPS Dominated pre-program for now. Had a issue with the PSU it was shipped with, seems it is broken and instead of putting out 36vac it's only putting out 0.05vac. I've been back and forth with a customer service tech and he's been really great about helping out. So for now it's on the old power supply, my R420R 160watt 16k, which thankfully it's compatible. I kind of expected bugs since it's the first Gen of a new line.

    Super Sweet Pic's and light, had a razor and loved it but went to a 48" tank.

    Well yes and no. The fixture itself come Pre loaded with 4 different schedules. What you see in this post are the pre loaded schedules running with the IPV6 module. Im trying out the SPS Dominated schedule. As it’s ramping down it gets real blue and the colors are coming out a lot more than with the R420R 16k.

    Well they make 2 more larger sizes. 4 in total, this is the RS-150. It is suppose to have a 36” x 28” spread and this is a 30” tank.

    I have the 200w rsx running for a week now. I did have struggles with a bug in the onboard system which i could solve by restoring( the System didnt start when plugged in) i still find myself unable to set the System clock. I get a crash everytime i try to. Have you had any similar experiences and a possible solution. As far as i could tell the new software for the rsx is not available on maxspects homepage to reinstall the system.

    The only issue I had was a bad power supply that was sent with it. Thankfully my old R420R 16k power supply was an exact match. I should be receiving my new power supply tomorrow.

    As far as system software, I’ve had no issues.

    Your best bet is to email support. They were very responsive with helping find and fix the issue within a day of emailing back and forth.

    Which Customer support did u contact exactly? I tried to create a supportticket at maxspects homepage which gave 0 response at all. Would u mind sharing the email u wrote to? I cannot find any direct contact adress.

    Well I actually won mine on the Facebook giveaway so the email I have was for a direct support tech I guess. I kept getting the same tech throughout the day while troubleshooting.

    cs@maxspect dot com. Replace the word dot for a period. It just seems to be a generic email address.

    Update yes! Customer Support worked out great. Had to update firmeare since i must have accidentally restored to an older software. I have no issues now. Fixture works great. Im kindoff a rookie with lighting but untill now i got no issues. I like the look and i like the lighting. Might get the icv6 unit to controll it wirelessly. But atm the onboard system works fine for me.
