McCoskers flasher wrasse acclimation

Hey everyone!
I am picking up a mccoskers wrasse tomorrow. It is going to be 1.5 hour drive home with the fish.

How do you recommend I acclimate this fish thanks!

Ask if they can pack it in oxygen. If not, you might consider replacing the air at times during the trip, and keep the water in the bag in gentle motion (the car may do that for you).
The big issue with acclimation is knowing the salinity the fish is in at the dealer, and being certain that your receiving tank is close to that, or lower (not a lot higher!).

I always set the quarantine water salinity to what the fish is coming from. I've seen salinities from 1.018 to 1.025. Then I adjust the quarantine .001 per day to where I want it (1.025~1.026). I never change a fish's salinity more than .001 per 24 hours.

I purchased my fish quarantined already 3 weeks.

Ok guess Im screwed if it's a lower salinity then my tank...
I bought quarantined because I don't have room for another tank...

Just talked to my lfs. He keeps it high at 1.030 because of this!!
.guess I will be ok. I run at 1.025

Just be sure he didn't mean 30 ppt! 1.030 is really high, the Red Sea is only 1.028. 30 ppt is equivalent to a specific gravity of 1.023 or so. You can probably acclimate from 1.023 to 1.025, but it is right on the boarder of too much to do at one time. Be sure to aerate during longer acclimations.

Ya I don't know he said he keeps it high because of this reason. He mentioned other lfs keep it at 1.021 or less so alot of fish die. So I assume he really meant 1.030.

I drip acclimated mine for an hour then put him in my quarantine with cupramine and 1.5mo the later he’s doing really well
