Bought a rainbow nem from a local guy a couple months ago foelr some color and movement in my 75 gallon tank. It started with the typical annoyed nem strolling around the tank and then finally settled into a good spot. I have been giving him a small piece of shrimp every few days and watched it grow to almost 5 inches diameter. Just walked by the tank this morning and glanced in and was like, wait.. was there TWO nems? The dude split last night!

I'm happy, things in my tank seem to be starting to turn around. Been fighting dinos, then had a small cyano issue, then dinos again. Now it seems the dinos are no more, cyano seems to be gone and my nem became a pair of nems!

Beautiful, congrats! Especially victorious after battling nusiance algae!

Nice on the split.

My aiptasia protocol is Joes Juice, all flow off and calm before targeting them, flow stays off for at least 15 min after to give the juice time to do its job.... This has worked quite well so far.

IME, there are several reasons why nems split:
1. Happy
2. Stress - induced alk spike from typical 8-9 to 12-13'ish
3. Quick contact with very sharp objects

Looks like yours split since it's happy. I've been doing #3 to help mine split ;)

I think my nems split over stress because the tank was young. Once the tank matured they stopped splitting and grew large. I never tried a sharp object lol mine were common RBT and there wasn't much of a demand.

For aiptasia I use peppermint shrimp in two tanks and never see aiptasia in the DTs but they are in the overflow and sump. I have a pair of CBBs in my larger tank that take care if business but they are not an easy fish and many people have trouble keeping them.

One of my Colorado's is likely 12"+ when fully inflated. It's pretty cool as a centerpiece though.

Aiptasia: ditto, I have a CBB in the big tank so zero aiptasias - such a beautiful fish as well. However, it only eats frozen so I can't go on vacations for long...

I love a nice big bubble tips but stopped keeping them when I moved tanks. They hadn't moved in years but I new if i moved them to the new tank they would be all over and I didn't want to sacrifice the corals.
My two CBB only eat frozen as well but I love them. I use the tanks as a reason not to vacation so it's a plus for me.

Im a newbie, so I think the CBB is out for now. Im trying to find either Nudibrancs or peppermints for my tank...
Some shrimp sold as peppermints are not true peppermint shrimp so you have to be sure and get the correct ones. Mine came from reef cleaners.

A are the ones to look for. Mine have never bothered coral.
