Megabite's 180 Reef - Round 2

Here’s shot from a couple of months ago and a top down with heavy blues but with some whites from a few weeks ago. Very different when not through glass and with whites.

Found it. SBB Red Reaper.

Here’s when I got it. Bottom left in the picture.

Wow it looks completely different from the top down!
I have one that looks very similar (albiet in a different country!).
Thanks for sharing!

You got it and thanks. I may have rendered the colors poorly on the top down. I’m going to take another look tomorrow and take another pic. I try to be as accurate as possible in post editing.

Also, I Just checked out your tank. Beautiful!

@JonoH is rocking it down under.

They could have come from the same area though originally. I forget where Shane gets his from but a lot of his new stuff is maricultured after the salt fiasco a few years back - he lost almost all of his OG SBB across unfortunately.

I thought about it after I said no as I was thinking of the name not the species. You may be correct.

I don't know much about acro varieties. I know Granulosa have kinda of smooth skin but I'm never sure.

This one is not very smooth and textured more like some type of stag I guess. I'm definitely not an expert at identifying corals.

Weekly AQ update.

Still growing well. Base is fully encrusted and just started getting onto the rock. You can tell that it's getting much broader as their is a lot more shadowing at the base along with some of the branches being longer.

So I'm a person that loves to analyze and compare things. And my latest thing to overanalyze is this Aquadelight. Although I have a bunch of pictures, the first picture when placed on the rock was taken in landscape and all the others were in portrait and cropped. So I decided to take one from the exact same spot against the glass with the same 100mm Macro lens and see the difference in how it fills the frame without cropping at all.

To determine how accurate this depiction was, I measured the crevices on the live rock to the right in both pictures to make sure they were the same size. I was pleased with the results as it gives me a much better reference of comparison.

Although the right picture looks zoomed a bit to look larger, it's not. That is all growth! So happy with how this coral is performing.

I don't see any difference. No, wait, upon closer inspection, it appears the placement of the coral in the "5/7/26" picture is off by .25mm, to the right.

You're killing it, Orly! I know this tank was seeded with items from your other system but, for 7 months (I think) in, you've got a great tank going.

Thanks guys. I completely nerd out with this stuff!

@That Crusso Kid.
Yes, 7 months on Saturday. To your point, I did start with about 70- 80 pounds of live rock and some corals from my previous tank, but that tank was up for only a few months. I'm still beyond happy and surprised how well this tank is doing though. Not for lack of work because I've put a ton of it into it, but because of everything else being new and it's young age. The additional live rock and sand from Gulf Live Rock definitely helped along with staying on top of things.

I've truly been blessed from the reef tank gods thus far. And of course for all the great people here on R2R.

Took a few all blues pics tonight and the 2 corals above are not the same one. DUH!

Here's a picture I just took tonight of the top one that you were enquiring about @JonoH. It's a good representation of what it looks like when I took the picture.

Here are the rest of the photos I took tonight. Lights were only blue and dimming.

My hawk is always nearby. He's never afraid when I'm in the tank.
