Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not a Melanarus would coexist in a 75g with a carpenter or McCoskeri flasher?

Next question. My tank is currently only housing a pair of extreme black ice clownfish. I plan on adding two Wrasse, two Kaudern's Cardinal fish, a Goby/pistol shrimp pair, and maybe a Royal Gramma. In what order should I add these fish listed above?

Thanks for your advice.

I would first wonder what the tank size is, as smaller tanks can lead to higher aggression even in normally peaceful fish that just want more space.

I have kept Halichoeres and Paracheilinus wrasses together.

There is also a thread here somewhere about wrasse compatibility but I can't seem to find it. Maybe someone from #reefsquad can help out.

I agree about adding the flasher first. The melanurus can be quite a stinker to new wrasse additions once it's established. Mine put my poor blue star leopard wrasse through the wringer and it took about 2 weeks of abuse before things settled down. Good thing I got a strong/healthy leopard wrasse.

Would there be a better wrasse to add with a Carpenter or McCoskeri than the Melanarus or are we looking at the same factors?

There are members of the Halichoeres family that are a bit better behaved (ie Red Lined Wrasse, Claudia Christmas Wrasse)

I have a mating pair of Melanurus (which usually increases aggressivity) and they haven't ever shown any aggressivity to flashers.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
