Ok so who else spend their free time swinging the coil?
And what machine are you running?

I just started recently with a bounty hunter quicksilver. Only 1 silver find so far. Old silver dime. But so much trash it drives me crazy lol

Any hints on finding good spots to hunt? I have been hitting tons of parks and only finding clad. No jewelry yet

I swing a fisher f4 and a minelab quatro (haven't figured that one out quite yet). Lots of clad coins. 2 silver dimes, one rosie, one merc. 3 silver rings, 1 gold earring post. Strangest find was a wallet some guy lost in high school in the eighties. had a few coins in it which the detector picked up, along with his class ID. Still haven't located him yet but I know he lives in this town so I'll find him eventually.

Nice. I have been looking at the Minelabs. Tired of having to dig every little thing with the bounty hunter

Old school guys will tell you to just dig the "sweet tones". I prefer the digital read out myself. If I hit on a steady number that doesn't bounce, I know what I'm digging 95% of the time. Still get fooled on nickels (pop tabs) and quarters (bottle caps) once in awhile. Thing with nickels I if you don't did them all, you may never pick up a gold ring.

The minelabs are pretty sweet but have to be swung VERY slow.

What about the fisher f2. Anyone used it before? It's a cheaper model at $250. But has the digital readout I'm looking for

Haven't used one but it's just a small downgrade from what I'm using. I don't know that you'll get a ton more depth out of it but it will be an ugrade from the BH IMO.

Definitely an upgrade. The quicksilver isn't too bad though. You just have to dig everything above iron

I always reject iron. But it has a display that reads either aluminum nickel. Aluminum zinc. And. Coins

Once you get used to using it. It is probably the best of the cheaper detectors. It also has multi tones to differentiate the metals

Got my first gold ring last night!!!

1951 pitt class ring
10 grams 18 k
