So far I’m impressed. Once I move and expand to 8’x3’ frag tanks I’ll probably go with the 400 watt bulbs for over the SPS system and 250 watts over the zoa/LPS system.

Try using Coralife/Kent Purple Tech and Coral-Vite Every Three to Four days, and see if you notice a difference, before trashing your lights.

it will take a few months before I can really take note of a major difference. Love the radium 20k bulbs though.

I’m getting ready to order new frag tanks that will be 6’x3’x15”. if all goes well I’ll light it with 4x 72” Reefbrite XHO strips and 6x 250 watt halides.

Over my 40G I've 250W 14K Bulb supplemented by x1 24" 50-50 and x1 24" Actinic strip lights (Reefbrite)

Generally I'm satisfied by the ease of use, coral growth but would prefer T5 over the LED lights.

11 hour light cycle with the MH on for 5 Hours (I should probably bump this up). I'm considering a 10K bulb when the 14k needs to be swapped out. The 14k is nice, but I'd prefer a tad more white.

My preference would be a 24" Giesemann Spectra Pendant with T5 supplement but the fixtures are hard to find. At least in Canada.

You won’t really find them anywhere outside of Europe. They’ve gotta be ordered directly from giesemann in Germany. Unless you found a used one. In the last 5 years I’ve seen maybe one or two go up for sale in the US. Not sure about Canada but I imagine there’s a similar scarcity

I kick myself for not buying the last 24" Spectra available on BRS a couple years back and unfortunate they don't carry them any more. I would think that albeit a small market for MH, there are buyers...

Someone should develop a LED/MH/T5 combo fixture. Best of everything :)

I love the metal halide/ LED hybrid. Best of both worlds. I’m still very happy with the reef brite fixture. Corals have responded very well to them

I installed 2×250w + T5 ......corals absolutely loving it ! I can see literally the sps frags growth every day .
When I used only LED'S the growth was much slower.
Also , another very interesting that in my display tank with MH there is very small amounts of nuisances Alege, and my small LPS tank that powerd by Radion G5 blue there is explosion of nuisances alge. I'm assuming that its related to the spectrum and UV radiation that produced by the halides.
Anyway , the MH is awesome !

How do you have the fixture mounted? Looks in the background like black steel pipe mounted to the wall with some flanges? Does that hold it securely? I have an 8 bulb T5 fixture that I'm trying to figure out how to mount, I want something fairly low profile and attractive. Like your halide hybrid, it's heavier than the typical LED fixture.
