Move him asap, that algae can swarm your chalice for sure and it;'s called wafer algae I think

Anyone have an opinion on whether or not it is worth it to break this frag off the algae covered plug for a new one? I think it may just grow over that turf.

for sure!! you are risking that frag with that much algae

I would just scrape off some of the algae and it will grow over it. I need to do the same with mine. Lol.

Mine has that wafer algae? I put a snail on my plug and he cleaned it right up. Its been coming back a bit though.

Its still too small to move off the disk without damaging it.

How did you go about replugging them?

With the 1st one (CF), just clipped the frag at the base. The coral wasn't attached to the plug, had just overgrown the little piece of rock it was on. Glued it to an old frag plug. Voila! The 2nd one (MM), clipped off some of the frag plug with cutters and scraped the rest off with a blade. Think I'm gonna have to hit it again.

**** man I am not getting nearly that much growth. I got a solid ring and a 2nd eye fast, but no real growth.

What kind of lighting do you have on your tank ?

It is a fast growing chalice. You should pop eyes in no time. Mine grows like crazy.
