micro scrubbing and salt creep

I want to try out micro scrubbing on my tank. I ordered a wooden air stone and have a pump. I tried it out for a few minutes on my tank however, I noticed a lot of water spray on the surface of my tank. is there any ideas on how to prevent salt spray ? my t5 lights are only about 3 inches off my tank and I can see the micro bubbles hitting the lights.

run bubbles at night, raise the lights up, drop them before they turn on? lol.

that would be a great idea however, it would be very cumbersome

You need a air valve. You don't want large bubbles bumping and popping at the top. Adjust the bubbles too tiny. [emoji106]

Also, move the airstone further away from the return pump intake.

And yes, what you want is control of air volume going to the air stone.

This is what many use for the setup.

I had the wooden air diffuser directly in the main tank when I tried it out. not anywhere near the return pump. I will also put a valve on the airline and adjust to finer bubbles. thanks for the advise so far

well I have been scrubbing for 3 days now. I noticed some h/a receding quickly from a few areas. I don't have an infestation per say but i did notice a few small patches receding. I have also noticed an increase in ca and alk without addition of 2 part. one of my gorgonians shed its skin

It depends on how you've set it up.
Key setup notes:
1. Fresh Air or CO2 scrubber setup
2. 3.2psi air pump
3. Oceanic wooden air stone
4. Very very fine bubble generation

Key things to look for:
1. Better water clarity (less particulates in the water column) with better light penetration
2. Increased appetite and grazing habits of all fish
3. Increased growth in sps type corals (growth tips) and growth rings in montiporas.
4. Better polyp extension and brighter colors.

When using fresh air (non co2 ladened) typically you'll see results in one to two weeks.

Remember, air pump by an open window, or air pump pushing air through a co2 scrubbing media is the best ways we've seen so far! :)
