Microfauna Light Requirements

I have been battling low nutrients in my softy tank and am contemplating taking my fuge offline. I currently have sand, biomedia, rubblerock and chaeto in the fuge. I still want the benfits of all the microfauna down there, but was wondering if any of them will suffer without the chaeto/other algae and a light source.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Leaving "zone" off seems to improve results a lot for some reason, especially here.
