Sadly, my first online order resulted in the Midas Blenny arriving DOA. Also received a Diamond Goby who is stressed, but so far still alive. Acclimated him to temp and salinity (1.018 from Liveaquaria)...he's in the QT resting but still breathing a little heavy... watching him closely.

But take a look at the DOA Blenny...does this look like he died from a disease or trauma?

Btw... they appeared to be packed very well with no damage on the box. Also Liveaquaria was awesome, answered immediately, and planning to send another one next week... just waiting to make sure the goby makes it!

Looks like redness (ammonia burn) around the gills. Is this an accurate observation on my part?

Yes, I noticed that redness and figured ammonia came into play. But, the stomach looked black and the back also looked very dark. A midas will brown up with stress, but this was really dark.

I didn't test the bagged water for ammonia levels, but figured since the goby was initially breathing hard and going to the surface after i opened the bag that he was stressing a bit as well.
