I'm thinking of getting a Mighty Magnet for my 335 gallon planted freshwater (acrylic) tank. None of the freshwater algaes are as hard as coralline algae, but there is some green spot algae that can get pretty hard. Is the mighty magnet capable of removing harder algaes or only softer types?

I've found that no magnet cleaner will fully remove very hard algae, especially if you let it grow and strengthen for too long. At that point, a blade is often necessary. at least in my experience. daily or every other day mag cleaning prevent the hard algae from solidifying.

Fair enough. I tried an acrylic safe Aqueon magnet before but it was completely ineffective. Barely removed faint soft algae. So I am hoping the Mighty Magnet will work better. Lots of good comments about it on this forum
