Me too. :(
I had one for just shy of 2 years and he grew old. He was nearly full grown when I got him too; must have been 4+ years in age - and as we know, that's all the time you've got with them.

Thank You, Brett! I am sorry that you both lost yours. Their short lifespan is the hardest part about keeping these wrasses for me. I suffered a few bad experiences with the Eightline's when they first started coming in. This one was a tiny female, so I am hoping he'll be around for a good while longer. I don't think I would ever try another male of this species.

Yes, I ditch it. It's hair algae and although I'm sure the fish would eat it, I would be adding all the Po4 that was removed back into the system.

I can't seem to get a definitive answer when it comes to algae scrubbers....some swear by it, others will flame you just for bring up the subject! I assume you are using the scrubber in conjunction with a skimmer and reactor. I know it's early on in the break-in period for your scrubber, but can you see any difference in your coral growth or color (not like you need any help in that area anyway!) Or have you noticed a drop in PO4 readings or nitrate levels?

We have a very small refugium sitting inside our frag tank. The plan is to eventually remove it.

It grows algae much faster than we can produce in our refugium, so there is at least some benefit. We're not at a point where we can really answer your questions with any concrete evidence as the scrubber has just started to really kick into high gear.
