I moved my 125 from a different house, took all the water out, all sand out and put all the same sand and water back in. Did a water change. Only thing that spiked was the nitrates. Ammonia and nitrites are 0. Is it a mini cycle or just rise in nitrates from moving the sand?

Most likely from moving, my brother in law recently moved and just took the water out and replaced it all 100% with new water and it spiked.

I'm thinking it spiked from the sand bed being taken out and put back in string it up

Should it of spiked using all the same water?
Most likey from the sandbed being taken out and put back in, shouldn't have been the water but anything could happen. But I'm putting my money on the sand. How deep is your sand bed?

Just live rock in the tank. I did a 30gal water change. I'm going to do a 40 gal water change and check the ph and see if that helps

Oh you will be alright then, I was thinking you had some fish and corals.

No I gave the fish to my father to put in his 155 reef. I wasn't a fan of the fish that were in it lol
