I just setup my budget QT tank and thought I'd share my DIY filter/flow.

Lately my online coral purchases have been coming in these pee cups. So...

I have a bunch of these 80 GPH fountain pumps lying around. Get them on Amazon for $9 here

You'll need...
• Pump
• Pee cup or medicine bottle
• Aquarium silicon
• Step bit for drilling hole
• Drill
• Filter pad (buy these for my sump filter cup here)
• Carbon

Step 1.
Pump comes with nozzle adapters, I used the 13mm for this. Take your step bit and and drill a whole in the lid of your bottle as close as possible to whatever adapter you choose. My hole ended up being slightly bigger.

Step 2.
Silicone nozzle adapter to bottle lid. Wait for it to dry!

Step 3.
Drill a few holes at the base of the bottle.

Step 4.
Cut filter pad into strips about an inch wide. Length will vary on your bottle size, but mine where about 6inch. You don't want too much cause you limit the amount of flow through the pads.

Step 5.
Rolled filter strip / carbon / rolled filter strip in the bottle.

Step 6.
Screw lid with adapter to bottle, insert into pump and you're done!

For my 10g QT this setup is enough for the LPS and softies I'll be quarantining.

Good luck and hope this helps some of you ;)

I do a similar thing with a powerhead and water bottle with the bottom chopped off. Yours looks nicer though. Good job!
