I would try to keep a good amount of open water and maybe get some nice big pieces instead of a pile of medium/small rock. the life rock "arches and shapes" boxes are pretty fantastic for getting dramatic scapes with minimal rocks. and they fit together nicely.

Something I’m working on

I like what you are doing there. Looking good.

I don't have a sense of proportion, but be conscious of stack height relative to waterline. Top of the stack should be below 2/3rds of the waterline. Some say even lower. Depends on a few things.
a) what corals will be in the top sections. Staghorns need some space to climb. Table acros not so much.
b) Viewing angle. If you are looking "up" at the tank versus down. Food for thought.

I made this mistake more than once.

Thanks for the input. I will measure again before adding to the tank. If its too tall I can remove some of the bottom pieces

Hi everyone.

Now my tank is like 5 weeks old, Im almost there when it comes to the fish stock, but there is a loooong way until I can start to fill it up whit high end Acros.... Right now Im "sitting on my hands" and waiting for the system to mature.

As you can see the algae show is still on, got some brown, some green and some cyano, but its going in the right direction.

Here are some pics of how it looks today. 5 weeks in.

One of the latest pieces for my new tank. About 18"x12" 28lbs. (I've learned the hard way to sculpt rock as three 30lb pieces vs one 90lb piece)

I have a few threads on how to build like this with dry rock/hydraulic cement and emarco400 for anyone curious...

Great read this thread. Minimalist aquascaping is very tough. This is mine. Very minimal but only going to be LPS and a couple fish. Any fine tuning recommendations?

I really believe that most reef tanks need more negative space. For more on this tank check out my instagram "wolfdaddysreef"
Do you have a build thread here? I'd love to follow along.
