What would the minimum heater size be for a 75 gal. I want to use Enhim Jagers but they are so long.
Would (2) 100w be sufficient.

My vote is 3-5 watts/gallon, depending on the room environment, and larger volume tanks can lean more towards the 3 watts. As said above, get an inkbird heater controller, you can find them on sale or used for about $30.

I might go with two 150 watt heaters here, for a combined 300 watts when both are on.

The Eheim heaters are indeed LOOOOONG lol!

Have you considered a titanium heater? These have the added bonus of acting like a grounding probe for your tank as well as a heater.

Good luck!

As mentioned, titanium heaters and cut wattage requirement in half and go with two as a safety measure should one fail and all on an thermostat such as an Inkbird.

Having said that, Eheim Jager seem to be the most reliable and I've used them from 50w to 200w. The 50w was running 3 plus years. Would still run them on an Inkbird as a backup. They are to me the4 cheapest option considering reliability. Half the required wattage should be short enough and don't be too concerned with being exactly 78 degrees. I'd rather run heaters that maxed out run at 76 and never worry about a stuck thermostat cooking my fish. Lots of people run their tanks lower than 78.
