i like them a lot. Even though my nems don’t move, just peace of mind. Bonus is that the larger pieces of food get trapped, which my flasher wrasse likes hovering around in high flow and picking off pieces. You have to keep them clean, I use hot water and hard tooth brush. Don’t use vinegar, they go brittle.

I 3d printed mine. The version on thingiverse is a perfect fit.

Thanks! Klir is working great, no issues so far. One roll lasts me at least a month, but not longer than 45 days.

how did you manage to fit it the sump.. i thought the reefer filter sock holder are smaller then what is required for the Klir?

no, they fit, all you have to do is dremmel or cut 4 corners of the reefer sock tray. 15 min.

thanks, nope, no issues so far, they like to sit on top of that structure getting baked at 500+ PAR. they only move a few inches around the same area.

in hindsight what size tank do you think would have made a good first tank knowing everything you know now,, and would you go custom or still a reefer?

nope, not using that. I have various 4 at 100% and two mp40s at 65%, seems to be circulating and pushing flow well.

that is an easy question! I personally wanted to go custom, wall to wall, had specific space in mind. The warden had a different idea and pointed to a specific place and said “go as big as you want in this space”. Hence the reefer!

if you have room and budget, going bigger is best. Standard reasons for water stability, expanded catalogue of fish you can have etc. Especially if you plan on tinkering with your sump and equipment. I was measuring cuts in mm in mine due to limited space. However, if you are unsure whether this is a long term hobby for you, not planning on messing with custom sump and addtl equipment, then reefer 250 is a perfect size for that. Hope this helps.

@Butuz hey I haven't visited your build thread in awhile. Tank looks absolutely amazing !!!! And you made "Reef Tank 365" too !!!! I was wondering if you could answer a question for me, I'm out of town and don't have access to my tank right now. Could you possibly tell me the size of the emergency drain downpipe in the overflow box of the Reefer 250? I think I have version 1 or 2 but definitely not 3 if it matters. I know the size is metric in mm's.
