I have never dipped or acclimated monti caps just glued them to a rock and left them to grow. Just removed a five gallon bucket of monti caps. Completely removed them as they were over growing my 280 gallon tank. They can suck up the calcium fast one they start getting big. They grow like weeds in my tank, it started with a small 1" chip about 1.5 years ago. They will grow over everything.

I wouldn't have the power head pointing directly at the cap like it appears to be in the clip you posted. Indirect flow is best in my opinion, especially with it stressed

One year started with a piece about thumbnail size. They are easy and this has been trimmed back a number of times

Wondering how your cap is doing. Montis grow fast even after a die off, wondering if the purple cap is growing again.
First day to a couple days ago. What do you think, should I trim it up?

I just noticed that growth at the bottom center.

If it's not in your way I would just leave it for a few months. Montis can make crazy comebacks that you never thought possible. As long as it's not growing algae on what looks like skeleton, you might be surprised by what happens.

Okay great! It seems to be healing nicely. I’m pretty sure there’s diatoms growing on it. Probably why my trochus won’t leave it alone.

Purple cap is doing about the same. Orange cap frag I added a day before the purple one is growing nicely so far and beginning to grow over the plug.

Monti caps have started to grow some now. Thickening up and growing a white rim. Hard to see in these pics.
