Monti Cap is dying

This maybe the problem.
The guy I got them from had SPS thriving under them.

All my other corals are also thriving under them.

You could be right, I don't know. It just seems odd that only one coral would have an issue if the lights weren't powerful enough or had an improper spectrum.

Do you know the par where the coral sits?
A quick search of the light and sps tells me anyone that has the lights growing sps had them 5"ish under the water. It just doesn't penetrate the water.
Your coral looks deeper than that.

I don't know the par. the coral sits about 12" below the water surface. I don't have the lights at 100% though.

Lights are definitely the problem. Upgrade your lights or stay away from SPS and get some less demanding corals.

Did you get any results thus far? My montis also are the only corals in my tank that seem finicky. I have thriving acros and other sps but all of my montis look great at first and then slowly lose a bit of color or bleach in some spots. They are still alive and look okay but not as colorful as when I got them. I haven’t figured out the reasoning.

The Monti died. A friend gave me another one that I put on the same spot. We’ll see how it reacts.
