Wont be the last time you wish you had a nicer tank or a bigger tank. Happiness is a mental shift, perspective. I long for a Red Sea C130.

Here's my 120 that I have on hand that I was going to start with. Bought a new 55g tank for making into a fuge someday... Still need a skimmer and return pump for this one yet..,

Got home from vacation yesterday and visited my local fish store (That Fish Place) and picked up a hydror korilia 565 for my fresh water storage tank (white 55g drum as seen in my picture above). As most of you know the challenge with these drums is the only opening is the bung holes. I was hoping for a wet / dry side like the Vortech pumps but unfortunately not... So I have to fashion a way to get the cord outside the tank to be plugged in... Here's what I've come up with..,

The next question is once the cord is run through the hole all the way I need a way to secure the hole from leaking. Anyone know of a fish safe epoxy that I could use to seal up the hole?

Silicone, same thing that they use to seal tanks with. Aqueon makes a silicone that is safe and less than $7.00.

I actually picked up some aqua weld tonight while picking up plumbing pieces. Waiting on a few components from BRS to properly hook up my RO/DI unit. Looks like it'll be here in two days. Not bad turn around for free shipping!

Ok... RO/DI setup and plumbed in... Connected to my top barrel for fresh water storage. I ran into a snag tonight today after filling the barrel up to around 40 gallon. The bottom plugs inner thread on my 3/4 inch pipe is leaking. So I have to take it apart tomorrow and fix the leak. Here's the RO/DI unit and the plumbing for the barrel. Since I'll be doing 5 gallon or less water changes unjust going to fill a 5 gallon bucket and mix it up in that. I'll plumb the bottom barrel for salt once I go to a bigger tank.

And finally..: the tank is wet! No leaks! Now to figure out how much salt I need to add to get the salinity right.

Ok I'm finally ready to start my cycle!!!

Salinity is currently sitting at 1.026 at 79.1 degrees. I have the MP10 on random reef crest ode for now... I need to reposition it because it's blowing the sand out of the far front corner. Top speed is 80% currently. I have 20lbs of pink Fiji sand. I was thinking of adding 10lbs more but we'll see how the 20 goes. I also rearranged the rock work again so there is what I call a natural cave within the rock work that is accessible from the front, the rear, and the side for critters to utilize. ATO setup and functioning... However... One tip... Make sure the ATO container fits under your stand. Whoops! I'll be getting a new container tomorrow. I want something that not only fits but is also clear.

Thank you, don't feel too bad about it. I find myself buying stuff and turning around later and thinking to myself "well that wont work!"
