How do you “turn off” your rodi when you’re done making water? Do you turn a valve at the end of the product water line AND turn off the valve that feeds the unit?

Does anyone have a T between the ro and di and use the ro for drinking water?

I have a tee between the ro and di so I can flush out the tds creep before making water and help the di resin last longer. I always shut off the water supply when I'm finished. I also have a bypass to flush my membrane before and after making water

I have my apex turn a solenoid off and on. Its on for a certain amount of time each day to refill my ATO container.
I have a 3-way valve I can turn when I want to make a barrel of water change water instead of ATO.
The apex is much smarter than me. It knows not to flood the floor.

Can I run the black waste line up 6 or so feet without creating any backpressure or problems with the flow stopping? If I can get it up and out this pipe in the wall then I can guide that water to my garden in the back yard.

6 feet shouldn't create any problems

Mine is on all the time for drinking water system. Solenoid for the DI when needed.

Check your waste:good after you run it that way and see if it changed it much.

I use a quarter turn tap on the input line and a pressure sensitive solenoid with a float valve in my reservoir in my system. This avoids the need to have power in my external RODI cabinet.

The only downside of this is that the solenoid is a little noisy when shutting off, but that’s ok in my situation as I only run this every 2-3 weeks. From everything I have read this is pretty normal for this type of solenoid. When I use the system I go out, turn the tap on, walk away and leave it to do it’s job and fill the reservoir. Once full I turn the tap off again. If I am home when it finishes filling the reservoir I will hear the solenoid shutting the system off and that tells me it is time to go out and turn the tap off. If I am out then it shuts itself off, and when I get home again I go out, check all is ok and turn the tap off.
