I don't have a chiller, but the QT is a 10g. The thermostat in my house is kept between 70 and 72. I'm not going to use a heater. I'm thinking the light over it will keep the temp between 72 and 74. Do you think that will be sufficient Krista?

How cute! I just love these fish. They have a wonderful personality. My little guy stole my heart! He had not be sick at all. He was very healthy, eating like a little pig, not afraid of his tank mates or anything. I just got up one morning and his tail was gone. I do have a large Emerald Crab in my tank. Could that be the culprit? I WILL ban him from my tank with a quickness if he did it! I have researched the skin disease they get and I don't think that is what happened. He was spunky even without a tail until I put him in HT. Thanks for the article NanaReefer. It put my mind at ease that I did the right thing as he was very well anesthetized with clove oil prior to freezing. Alka Seltzer seems cruel to me, but I'm not a chemist.
It's funny that the only methods approved by the AVMA involve "drugs" which can only be purchased from a vet. Wonder if pharmaceutical companies have anything to do with that.
Not true. They approve the use of Clove Oil and Alkaseltzer.

It said they DON'T approve alkaseltzer...I think.
