mounting acros horizontal vs. vertical

Has anyone found a significant benefit related to mounting acros on the plug/rock horizontal vs. vertical? like the 2 acros on the front of the rack in the pic. any noticeable differences?

According to this study there’s a higher chance of survival with horizontally mounted vs. vertically mounted frags. Though the vertically mounted frags seemed to grow faster.
