Mounting Temperature Probes

Did some searching and haven’t found anything on this topic. What are folks doing to mount your temp probes in desired areas of your tank/sump? Just laying the probe in the water approximately where you want it?

I have a couple ranco temp controllers and a Hydros temp probe that I’d like to place strategically in sump and looking for a method to get them to stay in a certain spot. TIA!

I'm a simple kinda guy and not too big on organization. I just zip tie a small piece of rock to the probe and drop it in the sump. Not that it matters but I'm running inkbirds.
