That is if I can’t get everything lit. My house looks like an extension cord packing facility right now
I still think it’s worth your time, and your blood pressure to check out a tool rental place!

Job site power distribution boxes are designed to hook up to a generator with one massive extension cord, then split it to numerous outlets remotely! — these should be available for rental locally!

Something like this, but nicer (50A in, 8X GFCI receptacles out!):

This is similar to what I have access to. I have about 10-12 of at work. They are just sitting there charged. I can grab as many as I need. They take a bunch of batteries. We use them on the road once a year.

Ah! What you’re describing is a portable job site power bank!

— this is just a dedicated power distribution box that you plug a big generator cord into!

It basically lets you run the desired continuous high wattage draws without worrying about a ton of extension cords and power splitters creating voltage loss and heat!

i took the liberty of doing a bit of digging to get all the electrical info I could broken down in a way that should help you calculate your safe electrical load:

Frag tank:

MP60: 60W max, .5A

M2: 96W max, .8A

Main tank:

L2: 150W max, 1.25A

6255: 58W for original (~.5A), 31W max for Eco (~.25A)

Stream 3: 50W max, ~.4A

Lighting:

T5HO: 54W/4ft, .45A/4ft

400W halide: 3.33A

250W halide: ~2.1A

XR30: 215W max listed draw, 1.8A

You can use this to start mathing out exactly how much light and flow you can safely run without pushing the limits of your power supplies… (just keep other equipment, particularly heaters, in mind!)

Generator will show up in the AM.

I can get by for a few days without the closed loops. Those 3 pumps draw around 12 amps. I can by with the 3 - 6255s and 2 -Stream 3’s and 2 L2’s for returns. That’s about the minimum flow I’d be comfortable with.

The frag tank would be an MP60 and a M2. I can coast like that with that.

I think for lighting I can get away (big tank) 3 halides, 4 XR30s and no T5s.

— The above proposes using a maximum total of 481-574W (4-4.5A) total power for main tank flow, 156W (1.3A) total power frag tank flow…

— 860W (7.2A) max draw from four XR30s… 990-1,320W ( 8.25-11A) — (+10% added for ballast inefficiencies) for halides…

— so, 11A, 7.2A, 4.5A, 1.3A… 24A total consumed… roughly half of what we can safely assume this generator can continuously produce!

— that means you’ve got leeway to run the closed loops and/or a couple extra lights if so-desired!

Dude you are gold. Holy crap. Thank you. I’m about to go bring the generator over here.

Ever wonder how much voltage drops through 150’ of extension cord:
It was sitting at 122v plugged into my house. It was as low at 108v. The Abyzz is getting shut down and will not be deployed while I loose 20 pounds due to stress this week :)

So, day 1 update:
- 5 electricians onsite (one lightbulb to screw in, lol).
- Lead electrician states with the amount of complexity due to multiple ATS being installed, today is a conduit and equipment day. Power will not be shut down. Sigh…
- Lead electrician then states “weather pattern has changed and there is now rain coming tomorrow. We cannot expose and leave exposed live electrical wires in the rain. Tomorrow will be a game time call.
- sigh…

On the good side it gives you time to make sure you're ready for the power outage if you need anything

Wow! Only 2 amps, and you’re down to an unsafe voltage? — is the extension cord just thin wire?

Well, those job site power distribution boxes are designed to prevent this exact issue, should you opt to employ one!

The Abyzz is not plugged into, I have that plugged into another actual outlet for now. But yeah, I was really surprised by the voltage drops. I am using 2 75’ 12/3 cords for a total of 150’. There is about 40 feet of cord that extends past this connection at the 150’ mark.
