Is it a new skimmer? If so, it's gonna need to break in. is it an in sump or hang on?

It's a hob reef octopus bh90. Couple of weeks old, and it was dialed in perfectly. Just skimming the sludge. I turned the flow rate down to keep it from taking out mostly water, but I'm gonns try turning it back up, let it take out some water, and see if it sorta resets itself.

Raise the collector cup real high on the skimmer and run it full open. My octopus runs full open. Just adjust the cup and you should be good!

The reason I was asking was because you had said it was loud, welp you beat me too it, I was gonna recommend you extend the drain into the water and pushed against wall. Also another way to help dial it in is too put a ball/gate valve on the drain and dial it in to where there is NO air sucked into the drain allowing for silence.

Thanks for the input... Yeah I rigged a little contraption that made it very quiet. Overall I'm happy with what I've done, and everything works nicely

Ok I grabbed some cheato and a light. Still playing around with drain fitting trying to figure the best way to keep it quiet and the bubbles down.

Thanks man! Took a couple of days of tinkering to get everything running optimal but it is working quite well now. -)
