Well I thought that I had a build thread for my system already, but guess I didn't . Time to change that. This system has gone through a few iterations since it was originally setup over 6 years ago. The most current setup I'd say is the most successful setup. It was change a little over 2 years ago to a SPS dominant. Here is a full tank shot:
A little details about how I run this system. The idea for me is to have the system as automated as possible. When I originally purchased the tank, my thought was to get equipment that I felt would last me the life of the system and not need to reinvest because I skimped on a particular piece of equipment and had too many regrets. Guess you can say this has carried over from my IT background.
The tank was built by DAS System out of Waxahachie, TX.
Parameters:
Salinity - 1.026
Alkalinity - 8 - 8.5
Calcium - 440 - 460 ppm
Magnesium - 1300 - 1400 ppm
Nitrates - 8 - 12 ppm
Phosphates - 0.05 - 0.10 ppm
Equipment:
Neptune Apex
Apex Modules (AWM, FMM, WXM, AFS, DOS, PM1)
Alkatronic
Dosetronic
Hydra 52 x 4
AquaticLife 61" T5 fixture with 4 ATI Blue+ bulbs
SBReef sBar x 2
MP40wqd x 4
Gyre x 2
Jebao OW50 x 1
Geo Reef 818/SMC415 Calcium Reactor w/ dual stage regulator
Kamoer Peristaltic Pump
Geo Reef Kalk stirrer
Reef Octopus 250INT skimmer
Dual CO2 scrubber
Filtration:
Sump/Refugium running 2 7" filter socks
Reef Octopus skimmer
Chaeto
Overall, this system is pretty easy to maintain. I currently am not doing any water changes and venturing more into maintaining trace elements via Red Sea program and will eventually stop using the Red Sea program in lieu of making my own trace elements. Hope that goes well and can save some $$$ doing so.
Here is a recent video of the inhabitants:
I do my best to keep this updated in the future.
