Got my new light in for my tank today and got it installed. It looks alot better over my tank than the disco ball pendant that came with the tank. Also picked up a scraper to do work on the horrible looking algae film on the sides of my tank(doing this tomorrow on my off day). Wish i could take better pics than what my phone take but every time i get a camera my kids end up destroying it lol.

Current livestock list:
Fish/inverts: pair of black & white clowns, pair of firefish and a blue chromis, a bunch of random snails and hermits, pom pom crab, and a rbta

SPS: Green tort, unknown green acro, tyree ponape birdsnest, green monti cap, orange w/ purple rim monti cap, orange monti cap, green hydraphora, green slimer, blue w/ pink tip milli, purple milli, borealis acro, monti spongodes, green w/ blue polyp birdsnest, orange digitata, purple digitata, garf bonsai, green w/ blue polyp stag, brown monti cap w/ blue polyps, green w/ white polyp monti cap...prolly a few more i forgot

LPS/Softies: a few different zoas & palys, aussie duncans, green blasto, galaxea, few different shrooms, pipe organ, bicolor frogspawn, hairy leather, hollywood stunner chalice..prolly a few more other things

Whoa.....250 watt halide. What kinda heat issues is that giving you? Tank looks good!

I am actually running and 150w mh now. Thought the 250 was kinda overkill. I still have a 4 degree temp fluctuation, but doesnt seem to cause any problems

Nice tank. I had a CAD 39 pro which is very similar to this tank. I ran a 150 watt HQI and 2 T5s with LED moon lights. It is CADS MH fixture that comes stock with the tank although most people choose the LED pendant. The fixture was great though and I loved it. I was able to grow sps and keep clams anywhere I wanted with no problems. Even now with my 250s on my 120 I only run them 5 hours a day. If I used 150s I could run them 8 or 10 hours a day and have a lot more good viewing time. I have been guilty of running a 400 w MH over a 40 breeder though too lol. As long as the corals are acclimated to the light, they typically do OK. Take a look at CAD lights fixture if you are looking for something affordable and that has T5s and LEDs. It's a nice little fixture that can be mounted on the tank or hung and would most likely fit right on your cool solana.

Well right now i have a odyssea 150w with 2 t5s and moonlights. I know they are cheapos but you cant beat it for 100 bucks shipped, not sure about the long run with the ballasts because i heard they were junk. The bulb that came with the fixture was horrible, the 15k mh bulb was very very yellow but since i tossed that bulb and switched to the radium i couldnt be happier.
