My 40 gallon recife build

That has always been my motto as well, but Ive never lost any fish that quickly before so Im probably just paranoid lol
Well, I've honestly never bought any livestock other than cleanup crew online so, what do I know?

Curious if I can get your guys opinions on this.

Someone is selling an NUVO SR Pro 2 that they said was setup and never used. Worried about warranty or if they got it blemished or if its broken etc. Full sale price brand new its $2,151.00. At my LFS I can get it for around that. Seller is around 2 hours away so I would need to rent a car & drive there and back in a car that could fit the tank and stand since its already assembled.

Curious what you guys think is fair to offer. No equipment comes with it other than the standard stuff.
Sorry, as usual I’m of no help but I hope someone chimes in to help you out!

Is that the 80 or the 120?

The 80. I honestly prefer the 80 the 120 is only 2700 but it would be hard for me to fit it in my condo. Definitely concerned about warranty and getting it in one piece to my place or if it’s leaking etc. they said there has never been water in it since they decided to go for a large tank option.

Has it had water in it previously? At least make them fill it up for you, and obviously inspect the seems. What size tank is this? Seems to me that you could get a new tank for around what you probably pay for this one. With that being said, maybe you can get it at a great price.

Reading is fundamental. I missed this before my post lol

It’s 80 gallons 4 feet AIO Innovative Marine. Seems like they bought a larger tank with a sump like a 180 gallon so I think the story is true. I may ask them to fill it with tap water. I offered 1250 a they said 1800 but I can get it for 2.1k with warranty so not worth it for me. Curious what you guys think. I countered 1500 but maybe I’m over paying with that.

The least they should do is leak test it before selling it. If they won't do that, then I'd call it a miss. Can also request that they send photos of all of the seams while it has water in it and the edges to look for chips. How much are they asking?

@JoJosReef Holly told me to tell you it's all off the shelf stuff, Canned chicken, spiral noodles, four cheese alfredo sauce, your choice of cheese on top, garlic powder and parmesan cheese.
Throw it together in a glass pan and in the oven ~400 or so for ~45 min or so?

Might have to make a bake for the kids and see if they go for it. They do alfredo pasta, but that gets a bit boring.

I offered 1250 they had it listed for 2200 and 2k elsewhere. They countered 1800. I countered 1500. I have some extra Hannah checkers since I got a Marine master now so seems like they are new to the hobby and may need them so I may offer to add some of them. I also have a larger skimmer for larger tanks that someone got me for Christmas and it does not come close to fit any of my tanks so maybe I can offer those to sweeten the deal or lower the price.

They do have posts on here actually of buying it and buying the 2nd tank so I do legitimately think it’s new. I would definitely ask for them to fill it with tap water so I can inspect it though.

Not too bad for a brand new IM. Still a lot to do with the tank though. I understood they don't include the pumps. Has media basket though? I recommend ditching the IM lid ASAP. Fish do a great job jumping through that wide mesh.

Yeah I would add a smaller mesh on top of the lid before adding any fish. I honestly would likely not be in a rush. I would probably give it a long while to cycle before adding any fish and even move some fish from my other tanks that are overstocked.

Do you think the 1500 is not to bad or the 1800? I feel 1800 is way too much since it’s not in the box still and lots of risk with warranty and transportation. Buying it new it’s 2.1k with a warranty and from my LFS for comparison same tank.

Tanks don't resell well, so I think $1500 is not bad. I'm hoping for $1k for my 83+sump+stand+ATO+lid that ran for less than a year and is totally tricked out.

I'll get you cook temp and time when I get home.

If it is obviously new and they'll show you the tank holding water, 1500 might be my max. If they're that concerned about squeezing the last dollar out of it, they might as well just keep it. I hope you get one though, new or used!

Much has been posted already. However, at 80 gal, they should be able to fill it in front of you and then drain it.

I’d offer $1400.

If you need help going there let me know.

I think Holly and JoJo are using cooking terms as code. And you’re playing right into their hands.

No worries. He turned me down at $1,500 which I think is even a bit more than what its worth. I may just get it locally at my LFS or order it online at some point. I am not in a rush for it. It honestly will make me feel better to get the warranty with something of that size. Innovative Marine also offered a $300 gift card to algae barn if I ordered it today which I am considering. I may wait though we shall see. He has it listed only for a week or so but I Imagine he is not going to get many offers when its listed at 2k and the tank costs 2.1k.
