My 40 gallon recife build

I don't know if you were serious about your acclimation question, John. If so, I don't acclimate any fish because I don't have any systems. However, when I have acclimated, I use the drip method.

What? Fell asleep on the couch. What'd I miss? Public education? Better not tell @kevgib67 , somewhat sensitive to the topic.

Wrasses are a perfectly fine team code for pitching:
Coris wrasse: sandball
Flasher wrasse: Four seam fastball
Fairy wrasse: two seam fastball
Leopard wrasse: splitter
Tamarin wrasse: curveball
Pink streak wrasse: changeup
Possum wrasse: knuckleball
Sixline: peg the batter

Im serious, but I love the fact that you wasn't sure lol

So it’s important to check with the supplier on what they put in their water for acclimation. Some places ship their fish in very low salinity like 1.021 (for some reason) and if you don’t drip acclimation that can shock and kill the fish not instantly but in a couple of days. Others like Biota put something in the water so if you drip acclimate then you actually kill the fish lol. They actually say if you drip acclimate it, then they void the claims process. They do ship it at 1.026 though. They put something in the water to help with the shipping process but say you can not drip acclimate as the chemical will kill the fish if they stay in the water exposed to air.

I would just quickly check the salinity because if it’s way off you may have to drip acclimatize them. If not then just temp acclimation and drop.

I've only ever purchased 1 fish online and I floated for temp and then plopped him in the water.

Slider. You left out the slider. (Pitch, not White Castles hamburger.)

I'm going to admit that past temp acclimating, I have never taken more than 20 minutes to get fish in the water.
That has always been my motto as well, but Ive never lost any fish that quickly before so Im probably just paranoid lol

Great advice Thomas. I honestly didnt realize that was a thing! You're right, their salinity was extremely low. Drip acclimate it is then.

Same here. Those were my first online fish purchase. I much prefer the lfs

Curious if I can get your guys opinions on this.

Someone is selling an NUVO SR Pro 2 that they said was setup and never used. Worried about warranty or if they got it blemished or if its broken etc. Full sale price brand new its $2,151.00. At my LFS I can get it for around that. Seller is around 2 hours away so I would need to rent a car & drive there and back in a car that could fit the tank and stand since its already assembled.

Curious what you guys think is fair to offer. No equipment comes with it other than the standard stuff.
