My 40 gallon recife build

You had me at scoly.

Well actually you had me at "I".

Let's address your POTM plate entry. I'm wondering how in the world I didt't know you had that thing? Im still going to enter a picture of my "Sweetlips" plate, but Im voting for you! That is a killer sandbed mama, JoJo!
Sweetlips is definitely getting a vote from me. Practically a celebrity coral!

Very low maintenance, She's a natural beauty.

She's classy but not uptight. How could you not love her!?

That's all @Jimbo327 's doing! We had a joint order from Dr. Reef and I wanted to buy some of his zoas when he came by to pick up his pipefish, and he just happened to have a baby plate as well! I'm eternally grateful for getting that pick-up. I stare at it throughout the day while I should be writing :-)
I could see it being hard to focus around that plate. Aren't they crazy?

Yep it’s a Meridian 11. Tried to win one at Frag Farmers but obviously missed out. That one would’ve been overkill for sure being the 24. Love the app. I’ve seen several of our R2R friends schedules of course including the one @VintageReefer has referred to.
Yep VR is the one that shined the light on Meridians for me also. If you didnt immediately leave after that pun, well thank you.

Ill be putting the 24 over a 35x17x17 AIO 50 gallon, in hopes of making it a frag tank. If I understand correctly, the newer Meridians will have independent intensity control per panel on multi panel lights. Theoretically, you could grow acros next to mushrooms on the same tank level with this new feature. One side could be blasted with 450 par and the other with 100 par, with minimal overlap.

Im glad to hear the app is user friendly. My current tank is lit by a single xr15. As much as I love it and the app, RB meridian blows it out of the water in almost every category.

There she is!

Bonus story about Sammy Kershaw. About 15 years ago a buddy and I were going to one of his shows. We were waiting at a red light and passing the jar or moonshine we brought with us (like you do) when all of a sudden we were nailed by a loud crash. When I woke up, I realized we had been rear ended by a K9 Police officer in a Chevy Tahoe. He totaled my friends truck and we spilled our corn liquor. The investigators had to have just overlooked it because you cant hide that smell. Maybe they were just being nice to us because all of the witnesses said the officer was on his phone when it happened.

And that's the story about the time I got rammed into by a police officer on my way to a casino to see Sammy Kershaw.

Welcome to Mississippi

I totally have a story!

So this one time I... No wait, that was a movie I saw.

Ok, so there was this other time.... No, TV show.

Nevermind. I don't remember having any crazy stories. Sorry.

But it is 100° outside and it's only March.
That very much counts sir! Dont you also go hunting in the mountains? That's a way better story than a drunken attempt to get to a country show lol

Hunting in the mountains in the desert no less!

I do have a fun hunting story.

So here in Arizona you have to draw a tag like the lottery. It took me around 7 years without drawing a tag before I got my Archery Bull Elk tag up near the Grand Canyon. It was a 14 day hunt and the first 8 days we spent chasing herds but they were almost always in the park before daylight and no one is allowed to hunt on park property. Day 9, everyone that was with me left to go to my brother-in-law's hunt down close to Flagstaff so I was all alone after the morning hunt. Around 11, I figured I better go try somewhere else so I dropped down into th n desert region of the unit and started using my binoculars to glass the fingers and cuts on the mountain range I was one with 0 luck. I moved along and saw a nice hill to go climb and glass from and was headed that way. I came to a small dirt road and, in true cautious fashion, I looked both ways before crossing and, off to my left, a stupid little doinker raghorn 3*3 bull. Well, he's the best bull I've seen that was shootable (even though he definitely wasn't an opening day shooter bull) so I decided to follow him. He took me on this long winding path through the woods - super easy to follow though, breaking branches trying to rub his velvet off, snacking on scrub and weeds along the way, stepping in soft dirt and leaving tracks - for about 2 miles. Finally, I come around this bush and spot some yellow fur under a tree about 25 yards (23 to be precise). There, lying under this tree is an elk. I can see antlers and I can tell it's a lone elk so I know it's a bull. I steady myself, take a few breaths - hey, he's asleep so I've got time - nock an arrow on my bow, slowly step around the bush for a clear shot, aim just behind the shoulder, and release the arrow.

Well, how's THAT for a story!

Ok, so I know I left you hanging.

Here's the rest of the story:

After releasing the arrow, I hear the "Thwack, Thud!" of a solid animal strike so I know I got him. Boy was he surprised! He jumped up and ran! Where he crested the hill, I watched. Once he was out of site I walked over to look for a blood trail. Instead, I found a puddle. A good, solid, on target hit!

I look down the hill he ran down and hear a crash behind me! I turn around and I see him laying under the same tree I shot him under. He ran in about a 100 yard circle and came to rest where he was already resting.

Needless to say, he was NOT the raghorn I had been chasing. That little turkey led me to this big boy that had been beating him up and stealing all his little ladies.

Now THAT'S a story. I was 50/50 on whether or not you were going to end the story half way lol.

Smart for the little elk. He's like, dont shoot man. I've got someone for you!

You were already on him to, so if you hadnt gotten one soon after that, he was probably going to take a dirt nap himself.
Nice shot in the brush brother. Great story and pics!
