Aaahhh!!! My 55 gallon busted, and have no clue why. The front looks like it just totally shattered! Fish, sand and glass everywhere! Luckily I've got my 125, so we were able to save a few things. We weren't home, but we think it must have happened like 30 minutes before we got home. It happened a couple weeks ago, but just getting it posted. Here's a pic after I got all of the live rock out of it...

WOW... that picture says it all. That is horrifying. Do you have any idea what caused it or weaked the glass?

I hate to even ask, but did you have home owners insurance? Not for the tank, but any damage.

That is awful. I think everyone fears coming home to that. Any way a rock could have rolled over and hit the glass?

We're not really sure what happened. The only thing we can think of is the construction goby moved some sand, and maybe a rock toppled over. Sucks though. I lost an entire school of chromis...they were fun to watch. The triggers in my big tank would have eaten them anyway if they had survived the crash. And yeah, the carpet really sucked. It took my husband and I 2 weeks to get the carpet all cleaned up. We rented a professional steamer and everything. Suck! We're actually renting this house, and really didn't want to inform the landlord because we were afraid they'd make us get rid of my other 2 tanks. This tank was only 1 1/2 years old too, and bought it brand new! Scary!

What a crazy situation. Another reason I have been thinking about moldding my LR together just in case. Are you going to try again.

Oh my! What a horrible sight to come home to. Was it a fish only tank or did you also lose coral?
