Hello and happy Sunday afternoon

I had a little time today to start shoot videos for testing with a pipette today now for the edits

In the the meantime I had a OMG moment with my nitrates starting to lower with vodka dosing

Screen Shot 2021-04-25 at 5.30.48 PM.png

I also cleaned the front glass of all the Coraline algae

IMG_0018.JPG

since I have been keeping my Alk lower at 7.5 the Coraline algae has been growing like crazy. I would say in another month my nutrient levels will start to lower to were the nutrient levels should be. It a slow process.

What do did I say. reefing is all about patients. We patients is paying off!!

My nutrient numbers are starting to fall slowly after dosing vodka for about two months. I have been increasing the dose .5 per week every week since I started.

I was thinking about running GFO to bring down the phosphates, but decided to wait a little longer to see what the carbon dosing is going to do.

Now to start seeding the system with corals to start growing corals again.

Phosphates are coming down. I have to adjust the salinity and I will re test tomorrow again. Nitrates are still way high tough.

Now to get the nitrates down.

I really like the new Hanna Nitrate checker over the Low nitrate checker. Soooooo much simpler and easier to use.

Messing around with video editing/relearning adobe premier. This one is with testing alk with a Hanna checker and a pipe with disposable tips.

Happy 4th of July, Jeffery

Got that high-range nitrate checker with 3 - 25 packs of reagents coming in on the 8th.

That's good news that it meets your testing standards... ;Happy

Reef is looking good, do you still have your sump / controller closet?

Happy 4th of July to you Freddy

You will love it. The Low range checker I would give the checker a 3 just for the reason of steps and difficulty. The High range is defiantly a 5 star.

Yes I have the jump closet :)

I think it is time to laugh the louver doors and make some nice doors?

Now just to get the nitrates down. I have been using Aquaforest NitraPhos Minus for the past three weeks. Nothing has help me drop my phosphates as well as the NitraPhos minus but the vodka seemed to be better at lowing the nitrates.

I also corrected the salinity since Sunday and my parameters fell in line after the corrections.

I think it is time to start adding corals?? My surviving mushrooms are doing very well.

I am so close that I can see the finish line with the nutrients. Phosphates went up a tad, and nitrates went down a point. I am going to go online with the bio pellet reactor and hopefully not like 3 years back I run the pellets at a higher speed my nitrates will come down. Then I will be in business.

Tested yesterday, and for the first time in 2+ years I am excited about the prospect of a healthy system to grow corals.

Should I scrape the coraline or not?

After testing yesterday, My nitrates are coming down since adding back bio pellets. Speaking of bio pellets I purchased the great biopellet cartridge for BRS. The cartridge is great and just what I needed. If you have a RO/DI type reactor, the cartridge is perfect for media. I am thinking about setting up another reactor possibly in the future for Zeomix and GFO if needed.

Have a great day all and I would appreciate the feed back on the back wall of the tank :)

Free at last.

I am defiantly playing fish tank for the next two days, nothing else to do while it rains.

When I was waiting to pick up the corals today, I saw so more pieces that I would like. I did not let temptation win. If I have success with these guys. I am thinking a blueberry styro, I saw a really cool Rainbow Monti

I might just go a head the get another rainbow.

I will have to pull up my wanted coral list and start looking for some prize corals to grow.

Todays numbers.

Phosphates are Zero . I cannot remember when my phosphates have been Zero:D

Screen Shot 2021-08-15 at 4.55.34 PM.png

Couple shots of the tank and playing around with the camera aperture. The camera card failed a couple of months ago and I sent the camera to be fixed. Now to get the setting reset up.

IMG_0063.JPG

The one on the top right is a mystery to me, hence the mystery Monti I purchase in a live sale From TSA

IMG_0064.JPG

Full tank shot.

I am thinking of replacing the AI light with GHL Miters 7204 lights. I the GHL's if I were to replace the AI lights.

It Sunday Parameters days
Screen Shot 2021-08-29 at 3.33.10 PM.png

Phosphates are up, but a controlled rise. I still need to bring down the nitrates some more. Come one bio pellets, kick in some more.

My mystery coral is fading, I would think due to the low phosphates. The coral my be saved with bring up the phosphate a bit. I am raising up the Ca and alk a tad with the 1+2+3+

Spoke to Hanna this week. FYI the nitrate reagent for the high range is going to ship in another 4 weeks. Hanna has a bunch of orders that were back ordered. They did not anticipate all of us that found doing the diluted nitrate test to be a bit cumbersome, to order the high range in such volume ;)

On that note, have a great week!!

If I knew how to work my camera, would could see that the corals that I add weeks ago are doing pretty good and not dying off. I am pretty excited.

I am going to retest the phosphates Tuesday. I think the zero is operator error ;Hilarious
