I just bought a used Red Sea Reefer 350 off marketplace for $1200. I am coming from a JBJ 45 AIO so roughly doubling my tank size. The Red Sea came with a Clearview lid, vetra S1 pump, and a Reef Octopus classic 150int skimmer. I thought it was pretty good deal. I want to do this thread not only to track my progress, but mostly to ask questions along the way. There is still so much I don't know about this hobby. I will do my best to post pics and be as detailed as possible when asking questions. So let's get right into it. Here is my first tank pic.

Ok. So I got the tank home in one piece. Well actually 2 pieces, but who’s counting. Downloaded all the manuals for tank and equipment. Put the tank in its new home. Connected the plumbing in the overflow box. Then went to connect the plumbing under the tank. As I was twisting the connector piece that connects the top drain pipe to the bottom drain pipe the connector completely broke off on me. I will provide some pics so all you guys and girls can see what I’m talking about.

Ok. So maybe you guys can help me out. I am in the process of re-plumbing my tank. The previous tank owner had it hard plumbed from the return pump to the return line. Stupid me broke the hard plumbing trying to take it apart. So now I am going back to the stock way that Red Sea suggests in the owners manual. I just ordered a barb and screen kit for my vectra s1. My question is........
1-Will I need this fitting that came with the vectra s1 that is glued onto this hard plumbing to work with the barb that I just ordered?
2-Do I need to cut the hard plumbing to get the vectra s1 collar off?
