My first ever full sized goni (apparently my green thumb is actually an alviopora according to some people here) just came in today and has been in the tank for a few hours.it’s just starting to open up.

Tidal gardens had it listed a gamora goniopora.

it’s in a pretty low flow part of my tank
I tried to keep it in similar light and flow as my green thumb goni(alviopora) which seems to be doing well for about three months now.

As for feeding lately I’ve been mixing reef roids into Red Sea ab+ Letting the flow cover the entire tank with the food and then turning on feed mode in the möbius app (10 minutes)
if anyone knows a better feeding method for gonis please tell me

now we wait and hope
I’ll try to keep this post up to date if anyone is interested

I read in some threads that manganese and some other trace elements are important for polyp extension, so I’m gonna start dosing with tropic Marin trace 1&2.

I have heard that also along with various other elements. For me, I think I have better long term results with stable parameters and consistent feeding 2 or 3 times a week specifically targeting them.

I’ve been dosing a couple of pumps daily each of tropic Marin’s pro- coral k+ and A-. I really need to get a dosing pump so I don’t forget. I’ve been looking at the Red Sea ones recently.

So I may have a problem…

World wide corals was having one of their eBay sales, and I couldn’t help myself…. And now my goni has some new siblings.

my camera filter seems to not want to be found at the moment so here’s a pic of the invoice.

while I’m here, I think I heard somewhere that the micro goniopora are actually called bernardpora. Can anyone confirm?

So it’s been sulking for the past couple of days
9B80A147-4C11-464B-9444-4C9798EF2436.jpeg

Not quite sure why. I figured it was because I was a bit behind on my water change.

post water change tests read:
(all tests done with Hanna testing equipment)

Ph: 8.1
Nitrates: 4.6
Phosphates: .04
Alkalinity: 7.0
Calcium: I forgot to write this one down but it was around 420 something

Using brs calculator I raised my alkalinity aiming for 8.4
For calcium I went with a lowball of 420 as my base and aimed to raise it to 450.
(Haven’t retested yet)

the only other change I’ve made are of late is the one time I attempted to use garlic in my fish food.

at this point I’m just gonna retest and leave the tank alone.

Any advice would be nice.

I don’t target feed. I let the food cover the entire tank, then put my tank into feed mode on the möbius app. So my goni gets about 10 minutes of feed time
How much and how often and with what? Your nutrients seem a little low. Might try a little target feeding a couple times a week with some small particle foods.
