Alright So I got my first protein skimmer. The Macro Aqua M-50 its made for 60 gallons and my tank is a 75 gallon.
It took a while for me to dial it but it seems to be overflowing fast within an hour its about 1/10 filled (The Collection Cup). I hear some people say it should fill up in a day then I hear some people say it takes two weeks to fill. How fast should it fill up? I have it currently dialed so the lowest amount of water goes in and so water goes out the fastest.

Put a piece of masking tape over the air intake tube and just poke a needle hole as needed with dialing it back if you can't just dial it back anymore, until the break in period is done.
Keep the bubbles about 1/4 up the top tube.

Or do you have that much junk in your tank that it's doing the job it's supposed to do and filling the top cup up like it should with dark skim.

The Water is quite dark and brown and i'm not sure if I even had a break period

Would the Collection fill up slower if the water was less .. dirty I suppose?

Hello,

@Brad Miller good idea, I was never able to get tape to stick but use a plastic lid and the suction holds it on. I then slide it to increase or decrease when my skimmer goes nuts.

If the skimmer is new, it may take awhile, mine took forever like over a month to stop going crazy. I found my lid idea by accident lol but if tape works and sticks on it would have more controlled flow. The lid just kinda slides and you have to move it just tiny amounts. Another thing they helped at the time I did mine (may not have that option), but I used a canister filter in sync (awhile I was cycling my tank) which had just carbon and the microfiber pads. But the skimmer went nuts on me. But just have patience some take a little while to not be bubble maker masters.
